The meeting on 5/18/26 will be the final chess club meeting under the banner of Brian's Chess Club.
Today, May 18, 2026, was the final meeting of Brian's Chess Club that began over three years ago. His mission was simple: create a welcoming space where kids (K-8) could gather and learn and play chess in the Dulles South community and it was his way of giving back to the community what chess has given him over the past decade. It has been amazing watching the impact that his chess club has had on the kids (over 450 families registered, 20-40 kids attending each week) over the years, and how the chess club -- which is still the only one of its kind in the county -- grew into a hub of learning, friendship, and community, under his tutelage.

- Our chess club is a welcoming community for children and pre-teens who are interested in learning the game of chess from a National Master (NM).
- In the process of learning how to play chess, children will make new friends and build their focus, discipline, competitiveness, and decision making skills.
- All skill levels are welcome, and no prior chess experience is necessary!
- We will provide chess boards, but if you have your own, feel free to bring it!
For those who are further interested in learning and playing chess online, I have partnered up with ChessKid. ChessKid is the world's #1 trusted online chess website for kids, where you can solve chess puzzles, complete lessons, and play chess with other kids around the globe. Everyone is eligible for a free basic ChessKid membership to play and learn chess online on ChessKid.
Through this club, I hope to share the joy of chess with the youth of the Dulles South community.
See you at the chess club!
